Bioease

Intro

Bioease is a research project aiming to become the first spin-off of the ECAM school of engineering in Brussels. Specialising in healthcare engineering, Bioease's aim is to simplify the lives of healthcare professionals by offering them surgical tools tailored to their needs

The first product under development is designed to standardise tendon cutting for allograft transplants. This product has already been validated by several renowned Belgian tissue banks and numerous tests have proven its effectiveness.

Work

Knee surgery, such as ligament reconstruction, is a common and complex procedure. Yet surgeons seem to have few tools specifically designed to improve the precision and reproducibility of certain technical gestures.

There seems to be a need for more adapted equipment, capable of standardizing certain critical stages of these operations.The lack of precision in tendon cutting, for instance, can lead to variability in outcomes, impacting both the stability of the graft and the patient's recovery process.

We are actively seeking collaborations with hospitals and knee surgery specialists to continue this development and bring our product closer to the professionals who need it most. If you share our vision or want to learn more, feel free to reach out to us.

About

Bioease is spearheaded by Marius Joly and Jonas Marchal, two healthcare engineers who graduated from ECAM Brussels Engineering School. Their backgrounds combine solid training in medical engineering with hands-on experience in the field of healthcare devices.

Motivated by a desire to bring tangible solutions to healthcare professionals, they work closely with orthopedic surgeons to ensure that Bioease meets real user needs.

Supported by institutions such as Innoviris and lifetech.brussels' MedTech Accelerator, Marius and Jonas combine scientific rigor, a sense of innovation and active listening to practitioners to bring this project to fruition.
